It has 75,000 m² of commercial space and is located in a triangle between Friedrich-Ebert-Strasse and Overather Strasse on the northern edge of the Königsforst . There is access to the technology park from both streets. It is conveniently located to the east near Cologne, directly on the federal motorway 4 with the Moitzfeld exit .

history

In the middle of the 19th century, the site belonged to the Leopold von Buch mine . This was consolidated with the White Pit , which had clearing ponds in the southeastern part of the site . A farmer from Moitzfeld cultivated several large fields in the western part of the site.

On June 29, 1959, the foundation stone was laid for the Interatom company premises , which had been housed in the old Bensberg Castle since 1958 . When the first buildings were ready for occupancy, the move began continuously in 1960, initially with around 100 employees. The further expansion meant that more and more people could be employed. At times 2000 people were employed. With the end of the core technology of the fast breeder in Kalkar , Siemens no longer had any use for Interatom. In 1994, Siemens informed the Bergisch Gladbach city administration that the high-tech subsidiary Interatom in Moitzfeld with 1,800 employees had to be closed.

That was the start for the foundation of the TechnologiePark Bergisch Gladbach (TBG) and the Rheinisch Bergisches TechnologieZentrum (RBTZ) in the same year 1995. From now on the employment curve went up continuously. Today around 2,400 people work here in 140 companies.
