The Kunstverein Ludwigshafen am Rhein e. V. , or Kunstverein Ludwigshafen for short , is an art association founded in Ludwigshafen am Rhein in 1928 , which is one of the oldest art associations in the state of Rhineland-Palatinate . The chairman is Hartmut Hüfken, who was managing director of Deutsche Rentenversicherung Rheinland-Pfalz from 1999 to 2015 .

The seat is in the Mayor Ludwig Reichert House (rear building of the Ludwigshafen City Library ; Bismarckstrasse 44–48 ). The aim of the association is to help shape the cultural life of the city with exhibitions of contemporary art . The association belongs to the working group of German art associations (ADKV).

In September 2008, the children and youth art school unARTig was opened on the ground floor of the side wing. This is a member of the State Working Group on Socioculture & Cultural Education Rhineland-Palatinate .

Exhibition series “Young Rhineland-Palatinate Artists” and prizes

As part of the competition exhibition series "Young Rhineland-Palatinate Artists", which has been held every three years together with the Ministry of Science, Further Education and Culture since 1979, the "Emy Roeder Prize", named after Emy Roeder , has been awarded since 1987 in addition to the sponsorship award . awarded as the main prize. In 2011, the Emy Roeder Prize was shared once. Extensive exhibition catalogs are published for the exhibitions. The Emy Roeder Prize is endowed with 5,200 euros, the “Young Rhineland-Palatinate Artists” award with 2,600 euros.
