Ludwig Reichert

Ludwig Reichert (born March 29, 1894 in Kaiserslautern , † December 6, 1957 in Ludwigshafen am Rhein ) was a German lawyer and politician ( center , later CDU ).

Life and work

Reichert was born the son of a senior postal inspector. After graduating from high school in 1914 at the Humanistic Gymnasium in Kaiserslautern, he began studying law and political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . He had to interrupt this because he was drafted into the military. From 1915 to 1918 he took part in the First World War as a soldier , most recently as a lieutenant in the reserve.

After the war Reichert continued his studies at the universities of Freiburg and Würzburg continued he with two state examination and in 1922 awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished. He joined the Palatinate civil service in 1923 as a government assessor, was appointed legal counsel in 1925 and then worked as the city counsel in Ludwigshafen am Rhein. In the summer of 1938 he participated as a reserve officer in the invasion of the Sudetenland . From 1939 to 1945 he took part in World War II as a flak officer , most recently as a major and regimental adjutant. During the war he was used in Angers , Brussels and the Netherlands , among others . At the end of the war, he was taken prisoner by the United States, from which he was released in September 1945.

Reichert worked again as a legal advisor in the Ludwigshafen city administration from October 1945 and was promoted to the higher legal council in May 1948. In addition to his professional activity, he was the director of the Ludwigshafen adult education center.

Political party

During the time of the Weimar Republic , Reichert joined the Center Party. In 1924/25 he was chairman of the center district association of Kaiserslautern and from 1928 until the party was dissolved in 1933 chairman of the center district association of Ludwigshafen-Frankenthal. In November 1945 he was the founder of the Center Party in Ludwigshafen. Towards the end of the same year he switched to the newly founded CDP , which later became the regional association of the CDU Rhineland-Palatinate .

MP

Reichert was a member of the Advisory State Assembly of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate in 1946/47 and served as its President from December 5, 1946 to May 18, 1947.

Public offices

Reichert was honorary mayor of the city of Ludwigshafen from December 1945 until his death .
