history

The oldest settlements mentioned in a document in today's Troisdorf urban area are Eschmar and Sieglar, which are already mentioned in 832 in an inventory of the Cassius monastery , Sieglar as marca Lareriorum vel in Fluvia Segen . In 1555 Sieglar was the parish and court seat of the Löwenburg office . At the end of the 18th century, there were two flour mills in Sieglar and, in 1820, two tanneries. A bell foundry in Rathausstrasse is documented for 1816 .

In 1806 the office of Löwenburg, and with it Sieglar, came to the Napoleonic Grand Duchy of Berg and Sieglar formed a mairie in the canton of Siegburg on March 8, 1809 .

Until 1927 the community of Sieglar belonged to the mayor's office of Sieglar . It had an area of 2,377 ha . 665 of them were arable land and 1004 logs. Until 1918, apart from Sieglar itself, the municipality also included Oberlar , which had 75 houses at that time and over 400 inhabitants, and the Telegraph forestry house with four inhabitants.

In 1885 the municipality of Sieglar had a total of 395 places (including uninhabited) with 425 households (including institutions). Of the 2,071 inhabitants, 1,080 were men and 991 women.

In 1885 there were 2,026 Catholics, three evangelical citizens and twelve Jews in the community . There was a separate Catholic parish with the parish church of St. Johannes in front of the Latin gate in the village, the evangelicals were also looked after by the parish of Siegburg .

In the course of the municipal reorganization of the Bonn area , the localities Bergheim, Eschmar, Kriegsdorf, Müllekoven, Oberlar, Sieglar and Spich of the municipality of Sieglar were incorporated into the city of Troisdorf on August 1, 1969. From 1990 to 2000, the Embassy of Mongolia in the Federal Republic of Germany was based in Sieglar at the Bonn government seat (→ entry in the embassy list ).

In August 2007 Sieglar celebrated his 1175th birthday on the market square.

Church life

Even today, the residents see themselves more as "Sieglarer" ( Löörer or Lööre Oohse ) and less as "Troisdorf". From playgrounds on kindergartens to several schools all facilities for children and young people are located there, there is a hospital , two churches, senior dating and a nursing home, the central fire and rescue station of the city, a branch of the city library and a community center in which can not only be celebrated, but which is also often used for cultural productions. In the center of the village you will find the historic market square . Although a lot has been built in the last few decades, you can always find historical half-timbered houses .
