Jörg Bendix

Jörg Bendix (born April 12, 1961 in Troisdorf-Sieglar ) is a German physical geographer and professor at the University of Marburg .

Life

Bendix studied geography at the University of Trier in 1982 , from 1983 to 1988 geography, soil science , agricultural hydraulic engineering and hydrobiology at the University of Bonn and graduated in 1988 with a diploma . He then worked as a scientific assistant to Matthias Winiger at the chair for remote sensing and climatology in Bonn. In 1992 he received his doctorate there and was appointed lecturer. In 1997 he received his habilitation there for geography. In the 1998 summer semester, Bendix was professor of physical geography at the University of Marburg. In 1999 he was appointed C3 Professor for Applied Physical Geography at the University of Munich . Since 2000 he has held the chair for geoecology at the University of Marburg and head of the Institute for Physical Geography at the Philipps University of Marburg. He is a member of the Academy of Sciences and Literature Mainz . In 2011 he was elected a member of the National Academy of Sciences Leopoldina .

His main research interests are climatology and remote sensing. In a DFG project, Bendix, in cooperation with the University of Munich, is investigating the development and possible protective measures for mountain rainforests in Ecuador .

Bendix published numerous articles and book chapters.
