Bergheim is one of the twelve localities of Troisdorf in the North Rhine-Westphalian Rhein-Sieg district and the southernmost of the localities that borders directly on the independent city of Bonn . As of December 31, 2016 there were 5,783 residents. In no other district of Troisdorf has the population grown as rapidly as in Bergheim. In 1969 there were only 2,571 inhabitants. The new residential area “Am Krausacker” for young families has attracted large numbers of people. It stands in contrast to the "old" farming and fishing village of Bergheim.

The protected landscape area of the Siegauen at the mouth of the Sieg river belonging to Bergheim is worth seeing . When the water floods, the floodplain becomes an extensive water landscape. In dry times the Siegaue is a breeding area for many rare bird species. Numerous cycling and hiking trails invite you to explore the Siegaue and the nearby banks of the Rhine. Shortly before the mouth of the Sieg you will find the restaurant Zur Siegfähre along with the eponymous ferry to Bonn - Geislar . Here was Gerhard Schröder as chancellor for an interview guest.

The fishing museum in Bergheim was built in 1986 by the fishing brotherhood in Bergheim an der Sieg and shows the history of the guild and the place. It was expanded and reopened in 2010.

The canoe polo club Pirat Bergheim has played in the Bundesliga since the 2008 season.
