Caque

Caque , engl. cag or cade, cawg or ked (Walloon), was the barrel in French and can be seen as a piece of measure due to its use . It developed from the Dutch kaken for “ salt herring and pack it in tons”. It was also the name for a powder barrel or a barrel of saltpeter .
