Cardiac Move is an Austrian rock band that became known by participating in and winning the “ Soundcheck ” band competition on radio station Ö3 .

Band history

Early beginnings (2002-2007)

After some of the founding members of the band visited the school together, they formed the band "Lemonhead" in the school's own band room. This name was changed to "Cardiac Move" after only three months, as it was too reminiscent of the well-known US band "The Lemonheads". The first local live performances were crowned with success and the band quickly made a name for themselves as a young pop hope in the Salzburg area - not least thanks to some band competitions in which the band was always able to impress the jury with their live performance, however, a top placement did not materialize. After two EPs ( Head Over Heels and Head Over Heels Limited Special Edition ) and an ever-growing fan base, the German hit producer Franz Plasa (Echt, Selig, etc.) became aware of the young band in 2006. A little later, he brought her to the home studios in Hamburg to record three songs. One of these songs ( Running In Your Mind ) would later pave the way for the five musicians in the charts.

The Sixth Seal - First chart successes (2008-2010)

When the participation in the largest Austrian band competition (Ö3 Soundcheck) was advertised in 2008, the band signed up with the song "Running In Your Mind". The competition was won and a major record deal was signed. From November 2008 Cardiac Move was under contract with Sony Music , where their first single "Running in Your Mind" was released on November 28, 2008. This rose to number 11 in the Austrian charts in December 2008 . The follow-up single "Head over Heels" was released at the end of June 2009 (released June 26, 2009). With “The Sixth Seal”, the band released their longplay debut on April 9, 2010. With “Fishermen” (released March 1, 2010) and “What I Feel” (released July 16, 2010) four singles were released from “The Sixth Seal”. In the meantime, the band had given their fans their own Christmas version of their later album song “This Could Be” as a (Christmas) gift and offered it as a free download from the official website on November 29, 2009. As part of the album promotion, they played as opening act for Die Ärzte, Amy Macdonald, Switchfoot, Reamonn, ICH + ICH, Kid Rock and Snow Patrol. In February 2009 Cardiac Move received the Austrian Newcomer Award.

Working on the second long player and concert highlights (2011-2013)

In February 2011, the recording work for the second long player began in Los Angeles (CA) with Robert Carranza on Brushfire Records. A first harbinger of the new work was the single “Woman Of Samaria” (released January 18, 2013), which was released in Austria on the in-house label “Spotstone Records”. This single and the song "We Are" (also on Spotstone Records) were only available online. In June 2013 the song Fishermen was chosen as one of the many hymns of World Youth Day in Brazil, with which the band received the invitation to present it live in Rio de Janeiro to an audience of millions. August 25, 2013 is the biggest live performance in the history of Cardiac Move. In the credits of the Pope's visit to Rio, the band played in front of an estimated 700,000 - 1,000,000 people. This surpassed the band's internal record, which had been set just a few days before with 100,000 listeners at the Halleluya Festival.

The Larchmont Sessions - Second Long Player (2014-now)

In spring 2015, the second long player "The Larchmont Sessions" (released March 13, 2015) was released for the 13th anniversary of Cardiac Move. In addition to the traditionally close collaboration with Sunshine Mastering in Vienna, “The Larchmont Sessions” was largely produced in Los Angeles under the direction of Robert Carranza (including Jack Johnson, Matt Costa). Shane D. Wilson (including Switchfoot) in Nashville is responsible for the mixes. The mastering was done by Joe LaPorta (including Muse, Kings Of Leon, Imagine Dragons) and Randy Merrill from Sterling Sound in New York. “So good” (released February 13, 2015) is the first single from their second long player. With the second single "Nothing To Lose" Cardiac Move got airplay again on Hitradio Ö3 and also brought out a music video on which top model Iris Strubegger participated. Further single releases from "The Larchmont Sessions" and the release of a German song have been announced.
