The Carey Point is a rocky headland , the western foothills of the island Saunders Iceland in the archipelago of the South Sandwich Islands is.
Scientists from the British Discovery Investigations carried out a survey in 1930 and named it Rocky Point . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee decided to rename it in 1953. The name, which is now established, is named after Commander William Melvin Carey (1887 - unknown), captain of the RRS Discovery II , with whose assistance the headland was surveyed.
