Carl Alexander von Volborth (born February 21, 1919 in Berlin , † February 25, 2009 in Antwerp ) was a German-American heraldist .

Life

He worked as a freelance artist from 1945, first in Germany and from 1952 in the United States. In the United States he was a teacher and lecturer in art history. From 1969 he lived and worked as a freelance artist and heraldist in Antwerp.

Both of his parents were artists with Russian, German, Swedish and English roots. Although of noble origin, the title baron was not used.

Since February 17, 1990 he has been a member of the Herold, Association for Heraldry, Genealogy and Related Sciences zu Berlin e. V. and also member of the International Academy of Heraldry (L'Académie Internationale d'Héraldique / Paris) and the Heraldry Society of Canada.

As 'Freelance Herald Alexander Troblov' he also published a few heraldic works with a fine sense of humor, together with his friend, the heraldist Marc Van de Cruys.

As a heraldic artist, he drew family arms for Wernher von Braun (1912–1977) and Carl Friedrich von Weizsäcker (1912–2007).
