Carl Huth , also Karl Huth ( August 2, 1867 in Mörse - June 3, 1948 in Leipzig ) was a German theater actor .

Life

Huth, son of an estate inspector, first devoted himself to studying medicine at Berlin University and only in the summer of 1890, occasionally to the student performance of Brutus and Colatinus , on which occasion he portrayed the old "Lucretius", he decided to give up his studies and to take up the acting profession.

He first found engagement in Potsdam (his first major role was the "valet" in Kabale und Liebe ), then came to Heidelberg, then to the Thaliatheater in Hamburg (inaugural role "Bellmaus") and joined the Leipzig City Theater Association in 1897, where he debuted as "Philipp Winkler" in Die Jugendfreunde .

Its territory is not a strictly limited one. It extends to the field of character actors, comedians, bon vivants and even operettas. He never worked over the same bar, he moved in different artistic outlines with each performance, but always offered completely uniform performances. He knew perfectly how to vary his role subject without offering anything inferior. From the series of his excellent performances the following are mentioned: “ Landlord ” in Minna von Barnhelm , “Alhasi Dervish”, “Zettel”, “Hasske” ( St. John's Fire ), “Babberly” in Charley's aunt , “Aristocrat” in two coats of arms , “Government councilor cellar "," Schiffskäpitan "in Sturm (by Jacobsohn) etc.

The artist was married to Käthe Friese .
