from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carl Nebgen (later Carl Nebgen Limonadenfabrik Cöln & Hannover ) was a German company that started bottling seltzer water and lemonades in 1892 and initially operated around 100 drinking halls in Cologne , and later in Hanover up to 80 points of sale called Nebgen-Bude . "Carl Nebgen can also be seen as the inventor of the stalls , drinking halls and kiosks that existed under this name in Cologne and Hanover until the 1980s."

history

The company was founded by Carl Nebgen in Cologne around 1890 as a bottling plant for seltzer water and lemonades. The filling took place in specially manufactured bottles with ball closures . Nebgen took over 100 drinking halls from two American brothers in 1892 and from then on sold his drinks himself. Little is known about Carl Nebgen as a person.

He expanded to Hanover and set up his headquarters under the company Carl Nebgen-Mineralwasserfabrik with drinking hall operation on Engelbosteler Damm, but moved to the Klagesmarkt just a year later . At that time, the management was held by Johann Nebgen. Before the outbreak of war in 1918, the company was relocated to Spichernstrasse. Around 1928 Nebgen relocated the company's headquarters to Hanover's Nordstadt, Im Moore 31/32. After the Second World War, the founder's grandson, Carl-Günther Nebgen (born December 21, 1921 in Hanover, died February 18, 1987 in Hanover) becomes managing director. In 1969 an administration building with bottling plants was built in the List on Mengendamm ; the architect was Rolf Wékel . In the early 1970s, sales in the 80 Hanoverian kiosks were still in the millions. In 1979 Nebgen-Verwaltungs GmbH went bankrupt and 26 kiosks could only be continued by founding a rescue company. In 1987 Carl Günther Nebgen died and the remaining kiosks had to close due to the company's insolvency. The parent company Carl Nebgen GmbH u. Co KG went into liquidation on May 25, 1999 and was deleted from the Cologne Commercial Register on February 20, 2002.
