Carlo Boniforti

Carlo Boniforti (born September 25, 1818 in Arona (Piedmont) , † October 10, 1879 in Trezzo sull'Adda ) was an Italian composer, organist and music teacher.

Boniforti was an organ student of Ferdinando Bonazzi , whom he succeeded in 1841 as organist at the Milan Cathedral . He also worked as a conductor of the court orchestra. From 1852 he taught harmony and counterpoint at the Milan Conservatory.

He composed church music (including Padre Nostro ), instrumental works (including a symphony) and two operas that were premiered at the Teatro alla Scala : Velleda (1847) and Giovanna di Fiaranda (1848).
