Carlo Taglioni

Carlo Taglioni (* before 1755 in Turin ; † 1835? In Naples ?) Was an Italian grotesque dancer, ballet master and choreographer .

Live and act

Taglioni is the father of the important dancers and choreographers Filippo Taglioni (1777–1871) and Salvatore Taglioni (1789–1868). Carlo was mainly active as a grotesque dancer in northern Italy. He made his debut in Turin in 1773. In 1778 he was promoted to "primo grottesco". He danced in Livorno and Pisa (1794), in Florence (1795) and at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice (1797/98). Around 1809 he choreographed in Vienna, where his son Filippo Taglioni danced. He last appeared in Naples in 1818.
