Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín
Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín (born December 2, 1884 in Masaya ; † January 2, 1942 Managua ) was President of Nicaragua from June 9, 1936 to January 1, 1937 .
Life
Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín was born into a family that traditionally belonged to the Partido Conservador de Nicaragua . Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín completed his studies at the Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala as Dr. of human medicine . In Guatemala at that time Manuel José Estrada Cabrera of the Partido Liberal ruled , Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín became a member of the Partido Liberal Nacionalista . Immediately after studying in Guatemala, he did postgraduate studies in San Francisco , California, where he was also active in the Partido Liberal . After returning to Nicaragua, he became a member of parliament and speaker of parliament. In June 1936 the parliament determined him to end the term of office of Juan Bautista Sacasa from June 9, 1936 to January 1, 1937, after Sacasa had been pushed away by his nephew Anastasio Somoza García . The election of Carlos Alberto Brenes Jarquín as president was supported by the Partido Conservador , the Partido Liberal and the diplomatic corps , which was headed by US Ambassador Arthur Bliss Lane . Brenes gave a radio address in mid-November 1936. In November 1936 presidential elections were held, in which, as expected, Anastasio Somoza García was elected president.
