Carlos Moreira

Carlos Moreira Reisch (* around 1947 in Nueva Helvecia , Uruguay ) is a Uruguayan lawyer and politician .

Moreira was born around 1947 in Nueva Helvecia, where he also attended school. He studied at the Universidad de la República in Montevideo and is a doctor of law and social sciences.

He is a member of the Partido Nacional and was elected in the 1985 election for the subsequent legislative period as a member of the Department of Colonia . From 1990 to 1993 he then held the post of State Secretary in the Interior Ministry of Uruguay under President Luis Alberto Lacalle . In 1994 he ran for the post of Intendente Municipal in Colonia and won the election with a large majority. From 1995 he held this position. As the first director of this department, he was re-elected in 2000. In 2004 he finally took over the office of chairman of the Congreso Nacional de Intendentes . Since 2005 he has been a representative of the Alianza Nacional , a wing of the Partido Nacional, senator in the Cámara de Senadores .
