Carlos Santos (boxer)

Carlos Santos (born October 1, 1955 in Santurce , Puerto Rico ) is a retired Puerto Rican boxer who represented his home country as an amateur at the 1976 Summer Olympics in Montreal , Canada . There he was eliminated in the quarterfinals. He was also 1984-1986 IBF world champion in the light middleweight .

Career

Carlos Santos made his debut as a professional boxer on November 11, 1976 and beat his opponent José Collantes after four rounds in San Juan . His first K-.o-. He achieved victory in his third fight when he defeated Juan Polanco on May 21, 1977 in the third round.

On November 2nd, 1984 he won the IBF World Championship against Mark Medal in New York's Madison Square Garden after 15 rounds by a unanimous decision of the jurors.

Santos' match record was 43 fights, 40 wins (27 by knockout) and 3 losses. He never lost a fight by knockout himself.
