Location of the moth

Carlton Castle also locally, Castle Hill called, is a Outbound castle and former Motte between the villages of North Reston and South Reston , about 11 kilometers southeast of Louth in the English county of Lincolnshire . The castle was obviously related to the then newly founded village of Castle Carlton nearby and probably had a double outer bailey .

The castle was built in the 12th century at the behest of Hugh Bardolf . Only the mound and a few trenches are preserved to this day and these are also overgrown.
