Carneiro is a place and a former municipality in northwestern Portugal .
Carneiro belongs to the Amarante county in the Porto district . The municipality had an area of 8.5 km² and has 311 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
On September 29, 2013, the municipalities of Carneiro, Carvalho de Rei and Bustelo were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Bustelo, Carneiro e Carvalho de Rei .
