Carnevals Spectacle Quadrille

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Carnevals-Spectakel-Quadrille is a quadrille by Johann Strauss Sohn (op. 152). It was first performed on February 21, 1854 in Schwender's Casino in Vienna.

Remarks

The quadrille was written in 1854 for a carnival ball in Schwenders Casino and was successfully performed there. In the work, the composer describes the cheerful, exuberant atmosphere of such an event. At first the work was very popular. The Quadrille was played rarely, if at all, and was forgotten. This was also due to the large number of such works by the composer, which displaced each other from the concert programs.

The playing time on the CD listed under itemization is 4 minutes and 28 seconds. This time can vary somewhat depending on the conductor's musical conception.
