Caroline Behrends

Ernestine Wilhelmine Caroline Behrends , b. Meinecke (born June 11, 1801 in Rätzlingen , † after 1824), was a German writer .

Life

Behrends was born as the daughter of Johann Conrad Wilhelm Meinecke (1769–1822), who was a pastor in Rätzlingen from 1799 to 1822 . On April 20, 1820 she married the teacher Ernst Christoph Wilhelm Behrends.

She published several poems and two sonnets in the Abend-Zeitung for the first time . The poems and other poems were published in 1820 in the volume Veilchen bei Rubach in Magdeburg . The critics saw the poems as the works of a "undemanding, but friendly, cheerful poet endowed with talent and education" and praised her poetry for her religious feeling. In 1822, Friedrich Wilhelm Gubitz 's companions followed the story The ways of man are not God's ways and in 1823 the story of Jutta, the emperor's daughter , which was reprinted in several episodes.
