Carreira is a place and a former municipality ( Freguesia ) in the northern Portuguese district of Barcelos . The community had 1,451 inhabitants (as of June 30, 2011).
As part of the territorial reform on September 29, 2013 , the municipalities of Carreira and Fonte Coberta were merged to form the new municipality of União das Freguesias de Carreira e Fonte Coberta . Carreira is the seat of this newly formed community.
