The Carrier Onboard Delivery ( COD for short ) process describes the ability of the US Navy to supply its aircraft carrier formations at sea with important and urgently needed materials and people.

The first carrier-based supply aircraft was the Grumman C-1 Trader , a transport variant that emerged from the Grumman S-2 Tracker .

Its replacement is the carrier-supported Grumman C-2 Greyhound , a transport variant developed from the Grumman E-2 C Hawkeye . The original C-2A units have now been replaced by 39 improved Grumman C-2A (R) - the "R" stands for Reproduced  - which in turn all go through a SLEP ( Service Life Extension Program ). From 2020, the C-2 will gradually be replaced by the CMV-22B Osprey .
