Carsten Alex

Carsten Alex (* 1965 in Berlin ) is a German consultant and author .

Professional activities

Alex began his professional career as a post office clerk, became a business graduate, worked as a business manager controlling at Mercedes-Benz in Stuttgart and later in Aschaffenburg as an authorized signatory of a Mercedes car dealership.

In 2000, Alex decided to take a two-year break and went on a 20-month trip around the world. After his return he managed to get back into management at DaimlerChrysler. Until March 2006 he was responsible for training sales after sales in the sales organization Germany of DaimlerChrysler AG.

In 2006 he took another long break of one and a half years. Carsten Alex wrote the book “Time to discover. Diary of a world traveler ”. The sequel appeared in 2007: “Der Auszeiter | From management to life - and back ”.

Alex has been living as an independent (business) consultant and coach in Berlin since 2006. His main topics are time-out and sabbatical advice as well as living and working in balance (work-life balance). He advocates that society regards time off as a natural part of professional life, because it is a way of maintaining performance and motivation, from which employees and employers benefit.

Media appearances

Alex was available to speak to print and online media (Focus, Handelsblatt, Chrismon) and gave interviews for television and radio (ZDF, WDR television, Deutschlandradio, rbb kulturradio).
