Carsten Reinhold Schulz

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Carsten Reinhold Schulz (* 1963 in Mönchengladbach ) is a German artist (concepts, actions, music) and author.

Life

Carsten Reinhold Schulz studied art at the anthroposophically oriented Free International University, FIU in Hamburg, founded by Joseph Beuys and Johannes Stüttgen (with Wolfgang Genoux and Günther Lierschof).

Schulz has been orienting himself since 1989, in addition to his graphic and photographic oeuvre, to the roles and functions of the artist. In his work, which focuses on cultural equality and participation, he considers the social role of the artist to be closely interwoven with relevant pictorial inventions. His work develops and discusses, among other things, political and social intentions for change through artistic-social role-play . Because of the lack of socially relevant discourse on art that he attests, he pleads for an urgently needed split in the concept of art.

Schulz is the initiator and founding member of the first association for outsider art and cultural equality Jason Ro for art and participation eV in Düsseldorf, founded in 2011 . In 2006 he carried out the first live combinations of poetry, film, music and performance on stage with his music and literature project “The Second Field”. He is considered to be the real inventor of the reading show . Since 1989 Schulz has been developing a solitary scratching and color technique on paper, for which he coined the term Rigolage .
