Carsten Wilkening

Carsten Wilkening (* 1960 in Bremen ) is a German bassoonist.

Life

He studied with Klaus Thunemann at the University of Music and Theater in Hanover. In 1977 and 1979 he was 1st prize winner in the "Jugend musiziert" competition and in 1981 1st prize in the German university competition. Since 1983 he has been principal bassoonist in the Frankfurt Radio Symphony Orchestra. As a chamber musician, he is a member of the Albert Schweitzer Octet and the Antares Ensemble. There are recordings of the bassoon solo and chamber music literature on ARD broadcasters. Paul Hindemith's Concerto for Trumpet and Bassoon has been released on CD.
