Casa Barreira

The Casa Barreira , also known as Vivienda Barreira , is a building in the Uruguayan capital of Montevideo .

The building, erected in 1941, is located in the Barrio Cordón on the border with Pocitos at Bulevar Artigas 1257 , corner of Guaná . The architect Román Fresnedo Siri was responsible for the construction . Conversions were made later, but no information is available about their timing and direction. Architecturally, the building is attributed to the modern age . Originally designed as a residential building, Casa Barreira was initially owned by the Barreira family. It now houses offices in which the delegation of the European Commission is based.

Since 1995 the Casa Barreira has been classified as a Bien de Interés Municipal due to decreto 26864 .
