Roman Fresnedo Siri

Román Fresnedo Siri (born February 4, 1903 in Salto ; † June 26, 1975 in Montevideo ) was a Uruguayan architect .

He graduated from the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la República . Fresnedo Siri won the competition to construct the building that houses the headquarters of the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) in Washington, DC (opened in 1965). He was also responsible for the Palacio de la Luz , which served as the seat of the UTE ( Arroyo Seco , Montevideo) , which was planned in 1948 and opened in 1951. After winning the pre-construction competition of the Jockey Club of Porto Alegre, he also designed the Hipódromo do Cristal in Porto Alegre . The monument to Luis Batlle Berres in Jacinto Vera , inaugurated on July 15, 1967 , also goes back to him.
