Grand Prize Bento Goncalves

The Crystal Hippodrome of the Jockey Club de Río Grande del Sur in the Cristal district of Porto Alegre is the main center for horse racing in the Brazilian state of Rio Grande do Sul . It was designed by the Uruguayan architect Román Fresnedo Siri and opened in 1959. It is considered a notable example of modern architecture in South America.

Horse races take place on Thursdays. A major event is the Grand Prize Bento Goncalves , a group 1 race over 2,400 m , held annually in November .
