Casa Souto

The Casa Souto is a building in the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

The building, built in 1928 by the architect Carlos Gómez Gavazzo , who later worked in the Studio Le Corbusiers following an award received in 1932 from the Faculty of Architecture of the Universidad de la República , with the help of Carlos Molins , is located in the Barrio Parque Rodó on Bulevar Gral. Artigas 541 , corner Ing. Eduardo García de Zúñiga . The Casa Souto, which has very geometric shapes and is very functionally oriented and thus attributable to Le Corbusier's functionalism, is one of the most important buildings in the barrio. Its architecture is also described as an important example of national modernism .

Casa Souto, also known as Vivienda Valerio Souto , was declared a municipal cultural asset ( Bien de Interés Municipal ) in 1995 .
