Parque Rodó
Parque Rodó is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .
location
It is located in the south of the city. There it borders in the south on a small section at Playa Ramírez on the Río de la Plata or otherwise on the Punta Carretas district there . To the west is the Barrio Palermo . Cordón connects to the north , while Pocitos and Punta Carretas continue the urban area in the east . The border of the barrios is formed by the Bulevar Artigas passing there in the east , while the streets Maldonado , Joaquin Requena and Canelones to the north, Juan D. Jackson to the west and Avenida JMSosa , Avenida J. Herrera y Reissig , and Avenida Gonzalo Ramirez to the south and the streets Dr.Luis Piera and Dr.Pablo M. Maria delimit the district.

There are currently 13,356 residents here, 7,291 of whom are female and 6,065 are male. (Status: 2005)

In the district, the area of which largely surrounds and includes the park of the same name, is the seat of Mercosur in the former Parque Hotel , now known as Edificio Mercosur . In addition, Parque Rodó houses the Museo Nacional de Artes Visuales and both the engineering faculty and the one for architecture of the Universidad de la República . Other noteworthy buildings are the Casa Vilamajó, listed as Monumento Histórico Nacional since 1990, or the Casa Crespi , the Casa Souto , the Casa del Fauno , the Edificio Polifuncional Faro or the Casa Terra , which houses the Arpel headquarters . The Japanese embassy , whose residence is in Barrio Carrasco , is also based here at Bulevar Artigas 953 .
