Villa Muñoz - Retiro
Villa Muñoz - Retiro is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .
As evidenced by its name, the district is made up of the barrios Villa Muñoz and Retiro .
location
Barrio Villa Muñoz - Retiro is located near the city center in the central southern part of Montevideo department . According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), it borders on La Aguada to the west . Reducto connects to the northwest, Figurita to the north and La Comercial to the east . To the south is the Barrio Cordón .
Infrastructure
The quarter was largely designed by Emilio Reus , who built a picturesque collection of houses and buildings here. Also known as the Jewish Quarter, Villa Muñoz has a large number of low-priced shops that are traditionally run by Jews.
