Colón Sureste - Abayubá
Colón Sureste - Abayubá is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

The Barrio Colón Sureste - Abayubá is located in the north of the Montevideo department . According to the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE), it borders in the north with the Department Canelones , in the west with Lezica - Melilla and Colón Centro y Noroeste in the south with Peñarol - Lavalleja and in the east with Manga - Toledo Chico . The barrio is made up of the Colón Sureste district and the Barrio Abayubá . Abayubá borders on the left bank of the Arroyo de las Piedras , which also separates it from La Paz to the north .
history
Abayubá was founded on October 5, 1873 by Marcelino Santurio, Florencio Escardó and José Mayán. Colonel Enrique Pereda, the then head of government and police in the department, served as the founding sponsor.
origin of the name
Most of the streets of Abayubá, named after Zapican 's nephew of the same name , who died fighting Juan de Garay and his followers in 1574 , have names of indigenous origin, such as Caracé , Guacziola or Siripó .
