La Blanqueada
La Blanqueada is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .
location
It is located north of the city center in the central south of the Montevideo department . La Blanqueada borders the Parque Batlle - Villa Dolores district in the south . To the southwest lies the Tres Cruces district . Larrañaga connects to the northwest , while Unión continues the urban area in the northeast .
The area of the district is included from the southwest in a clockwise direction from the border line formed by the following streets: Avenida Dr. Manuel Albo , Avenida 8 de Octubre , Avenida Dr. Luis Alberto de Herrera , Dr. Francisco Simon and Avenida Italia .
The area of La Blanqueada is the Municipalities CH and E associated.
history
In 1811, La Blanqueada was the scene of an important part of Uruguayan history. So in the Quinta de la Paraguaya (today's Parque Central ) José Artigas was proclaimed to the Jefe de los Orientales in a meeting .

education
There are numerous schools in La Blanqueada. Opponents at the time were the USA and Belgium . In addition, in 1881 , La Blanqueada was the venue for the first football game on Uruguayan soil between the Montevideo Rowing Club and the Montevideo Cricket Club .
Attractions
There is a monument in honor of Dámaso Antonio Larrañaga ( Monumento a Damaso Antonio Larrañaga ) on the avenue also named after him, which runs through the district .
