Pérez Castellanos or Castro - Pérez Castellanos is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

location

The district, managed by the Instituto Nacional de Estadística (INE) as Castro Castellanos, borders the districts Brazo Oriental (west), Cerrito de la Victoria (west), Las Acacias (northwest), Ituzaingó (northeast), Villa Española (east) and Mercado Modelo y Bolívar (southeast / south). The barrio is bordered by the following streets: Avenida General Flores , Camino Corrales , Juan De Garay , Robinson , Ing José Serrato , Balbin y Vallejo , Valladolid and Bulevar Batlle y Ordóñez . Orestes Araújo describes the area known as Pérez Castellanos as being at the foot of Cerrito de la Victoria. There it is located a cuadra from the Camino Goes on Calle Industria to Arroyuelo del Cerrito .

In the recent division of Montevideo into Municipios and Centros Comunales Zonales , Pérez Castellanos is incorporated into Municipio D and CCZ 11 .

The Barrio Pérez Castellanos was founded by Francisco Piria .

Infrastructure

The Parque Carlos Angel Fossa stadium , which opened in 1937 and has a capacity of around 6000 spectators, is located in the district near the Cuartel del Regimiento Blandengues de Artigas .
