Malvín Norte is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

It is located northeast of the city center in the southeast of the Montevideo department . Malvín Norte borders in the south on the Buceo and Malvín districts on the coast of the Río de la Plata . To the west is the Unión district . Maroñas - Parque Guaraní connects to the north , while Las Canteras continues the urban area in the east . The area of Malvín Norte is the municipality E assigned.

Malvín Norte, which with the Euskal Erría houses the largest residential complex in Uruguay, is one of the problem areas of Montevideo. Here the members of the lower class sometimes live in the so-called cantegriles . In January 2012, as a result of a series of violent crimes in Malvín Norte, among other things, a protest march by the residents of the neighborhood, with which they claimed more security for their neighborhood.
Infrastructure
The natural science faculty of the Universidad de la República has been based in Malvín Norte since 1987 . It is located in a specially built and equipped building with numerous laboratories and adequate equipment. Since December 2006 the Instituto Pasteur de Montevideo , a branch of the Paris Institute Pasteur , has its headquarters in a new building there. School Nº42 is also located in the district. The Club Atlético Basáñez and Club Atlético Alto Perú are also located here.
