Punta Gorda is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo .

Punta Gorda is located in the southeastern part of the Montevideo department on the coast of the Río de la Plata . It is located a few kilometers east of the city center between the districts of Malvín (west) and Carrasco (east). While Calle Alberto Zum Felde mainly forms the dividing line for the former , Avenida Bolivia Punta Gorda delimits Carrasco and Carrasco Norte to the east . Like Las Canteras in the north, Carrasco Norte connects to the barrio. The area of Punta Gorda is the municipality E assigned.

There are currently 14,519 residents here (as of 2005)

Description and infrastructure

The quarter serves as a residential area. In Punta Gorda there are the listed Plaza de la Armada (Plaza Virgilio) and Casa Andrada Torres . The Parque Eugenio Baroffio and the beaches Playa de los Ingleses , Playa Verde and Playa Carlos Gardel are also located there.
