Abayubá

Abayubá is a district ( barrio ) of the Uruguayan capital Montevideo and part of the Barrio Colón Sureste - Abayubá .
location
Abayubá is integrated into the Barrio Colón Sureste - Abayubá and is located in the north of the Montevideo department . In the north it borders on the left bank of the Arroyo de las Piedras , which at the same time separates it from La Paz to the north .
history
Abayubá was founded on October 5, 1873 by Marcelino Santurio, Florencio Escardó and José Mayán. Colonel Enrique Pereda, the then head of government and police in the department, served as the founding sponsor.
origin of the name
Most of the streets of Abayubá, named after Zapican 's nephew of the same name , who died fighting Juan de Garay and his followers in 1574 , have names of indigenous origin, such as Caracé , Guacziola or Siripó .
