Casa de Oribe

The Casa de Oribe is a building in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo .

The building, which was built at the beginning of the 19th century, according to information on the website of the Intendencia Municipal of Montevideo, probably 1825, is located in the Ciudad Vieja at Calle 25 de Mayo 641-647 , corner of Bartolomé Miter . Information about the architect is not available. While it was originally designed as a single-family home, it now houses offices. The Casa de Oribe is home to the Comisión del Patrimonio Historico, Artistico y Cultural de la Nación . From 1991 to 1996, restoration work was carried out under the direction of the architects R. Rodríguez Pratti and S. Abdala as well as the architecture workshop ( Taller de Arquitectura ) of the Comisión del Patrimonio Historico, Artistico y Cultural de la Nación.

Since 1975 the building has been classified as the Monumento Histórico Nacional .
