CashEDI

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

CashEDI is the name of a specialist procedure run by the Deutsche Bundesbank .

With CashEDI, the Bundesbank is expanding its range of services in cash payments and offering its customers the option of electronically supported business processing within the framework of standardized electronic data exchange.

The offer includes the electronic setting of deposit information and the electronic ordering of change. In this context, feedback on the delivery status, the provision and the result of the counting are also transmitted to the participants. In a later expansion stage, the dates of which have not yet been determined, the electronic transmission of pay slips and the electronic exchange of master data should be possible.

The communication is based on the application recommendation for the communication standard EANCOM ® and GS1 - XML developed by GS1 Germany . In order to take part in the specialist procedure, certain requirements must be met. Participants need a GLN (Global Location Number) from GS1 to uniquely identify their branches, locations and accounts. The payees also need at least one BMS account with the Bundesbank, but can waive the purchase of a GLN as part of a collective NiKo payment (temporarily permitted).

When exchanging electronic payment data, account numbers are no longer given compared to the old procedure, so that intentional or unintentional incorrect value dates are excluded. In the new procedure, the customer stores his account data directly with the Deutsche Bundesbank and is then assigned by his GLN. The occurrence of incorrect postings is hardly possible due to the check digit logic of the GLN and the obligation to submit an application to the Bundesbank.

Access to the specialized procedure is via the non-client-capable website WebEDI (possible since 2006) or via the file transfer requiring certification (since January 2008) via EANCOM or XML. To do this, the participants in the cash cycle must have themselves certified or use the services of software service providers.

The GS1 standard, which is used in the CashEDI specialist procedure, will also find its way into France, Italy and Spain in the coming years.
