The Casino de Montréal is a casino in the Canadian city of Montreal . It is located on the Île Notre-Dame . With 3200 slot machines and 115 gaming tables on an area of 48,900 m², it is the largest casino in the country; it is also one of the ten largest in the world.
The casino is open 24 hours a day. It is owned by the Société des casinos du Québec , a subsidiary of Loto-Québec , the state lottery company of the province of Québec . The casino also includes a hotel with 300 rooms, four restaurants, four bars, a cabaret room with 2500 seats and rooms for conferences and banquets.
After the provincial government passed a casino law in 1992, the casino opened on October 9, 1993. An already existing building was used, the former French pavilion of the Expo 67 world exhibition . Extensions took place in 1994 with the takeover of the Expo pavilion of the province of Québec and in 1996 with the construction of an annex building .
