Cassone is a fraction of the municipality of Malcesine on the east bank of Lake Garda and is located in the province of Verona , which belongs to the Veneto region.
The image of the small town is mainly shaped by the short Aril river , which rises above the town, runs through its old center and flows into Lake Garda near the port. There are two campsites near Cassone and a small hotel in the center. Mainly Italian weekend tourists frequent the place.
In 1913 the Austrian artist Gustav Klimt immortalized Cassone during his vacation in nearby Malcesine. He called the painting the church in Cassone on Lake Garda (Italian: Chiesa a Cassone sul Garda ).
