Castel Val in Auvers-sur-Oise

The Castel Val in Auvers-sur-Oise , a French commune in the Val-d'Oise department in the Île-de-France region , was built in 1902/03. The villa at 4 rue des Meulières has been classified as a Monument historique since 2006 .

The Art Nouveau style house was built for the industrialist Louis Chanut according to plans by the well-known architect Hector Guimard (1867–1942), who designed the metro entrances in Paris , among other places . Hector Guimard also built houses for the Chanut family in Paris and Cabourg .

The building stands on a slope and is arranged symmetrically. The iron construction is mostly visible, it forms a contrast to the brickwork and the limestone parts.

The furniture in the house, some of which is now in museums, was also designed by Hector Guimard.
