Castello di Vezio
Castello di Vezio is a ruined castle in the municipality of Varenna on Lake Como . It stands on a mountain directly above the old village center of Varenna. The complex used to be directly connected to the village by walls.
history
The Castello di Vezio was built in the late 11th and early 12th centuries. The castle ruins have been open to the public since 1999. There has been a birds of prey show since 2003 . A falconer shows birds of prey and owls in an air show there almost every day . In the restored keep there is an exhibition about the Lariosaurus, a dinosaur from the Middle Triassic, discovered near Perledo in 1830 .
