The Castle Rock (from English castle , castle, castle, fortress' ) is a striking and 175 m high cliff rock in the archipelago of the South Shetland Islands . In Boyd Strait, it rises 3 km off the west coast of Snow Island from the sea.
The descriptive naming of the rock has been established around 1822.
