Castle Stuart is a restored residential tower on the banks of the Moray Firth about 10 km northeast of Inverness in the Scottish administrative division Highland .

The land on which the castle was built was given to James Stewart, 1st Earl of Moray , from his half-sister, Maria Stuart , after she returned to Scotland in 1561. The subsequent murders of James Stewart and his son-in-law, James Stewart, 2nd Earl of Moray , resulted in the castle being finally completed in 1625 by the 1st Earl's grandson, James Stewart, 3rd Earl of Moray .

The castle initially prospered, but was no longer used when the star of the House of Stuart sank in the English Civil War and King Charles I was executed. The castle lay in ruins for 300 years before it was restored. Today it is a luxury hotel. Historic Scotland has listed it as a Category A Historic Building.
