history

The property was first mentioned in 1252. The oldest fragments of today's mansion are a tower house with a Z-shaped floor plan that was rebuilt on site in 1563. With the bankruptcy of John Abernethy, 8th Lord Saltoun in 1605, the baronate fell to the Gordon clan . During the 18th century, Castle of Park was expanded three times, namely in 1717, 1723 and towards the end of the century. Further construction phases began in 1829, 1876 and finally in 1918.

description

Castle of Park is a few hundred meters southeast of Cornhill. The facades of the three-story mansion with a roughly H-shaped floor plan are plastered with Harl . The original Tower House with a Z-shaped floor plan can still be recognized by its crenellated towers. Various architectural styles, such as a neo-Gothic tower and a classicist facade, reflect the long history of the building.

The one-story Gate Lodge was built around the mid-18th century. It flanks the gateway to Castle of Park on the B9023 about 300 m north of the manor house. Your Harl-plastered main facade is two axes wide. The roof is covered with gray slate.

The multi-building manor is located 150 meters west of Castle of Park. It was built in 1867.
