Cornhill is a village in the Scottish council area of Aberdeenshire . It is located in the traditional Scottish county of Banffshire about twelve kilometers southwest of Banff and 18 km southeast of Buckie . The nearest town is Gordonstown, 2.5 km away . Cornhill is connected to the trunk road network by the A95 . In the past, a railway line passed the town in the north, but it has since been dismantled. Cornhill Railway Station opened in 1859. It was last served by trains on the Moray Coastal Line and closed in 1968. Every year on the first Saturday in June, Cornhill Highland Games are held. As part of the games, there will also be a ten kilometer cross-country run over Knock Hill .
