It is located in the traditional Scottish county of Banffshire about twelve kilometers southwest of Banff and 18 km southeast of Buckie . The nearest town is Gordonstown, 2.5 km away . Cornhill is connected to the trunk road network by the A95 . In the past, a railway line passed the town in the north, but it has since been dismantled. Cornhill Railway Station opened in 1859.
