Castor movement pile

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Castor motion cluster is a star association that consists of a number of stars that all have roughly the same speed and come from a common origin. The stars identified as part of the group are Castor , Fomalhaut , Wega , α Cephei, and α Librae , all of which are also of similar ages.

Discoveries and Ingredients

The Castor motion pile was first proposed by JP Anosova and VV Orlov in 1990. Anosova and Orlov originally proposed 15 members as part of the group. A recent study by B. Barrado y Navascues recognizes 16 members, but also points to ongoing uncertainties.
