The band Country Ramblers was founded in 1969 in Zurich ( Switzerland ). The band is one of the pioneers of bluegrass music in Europe.

Career

The Country Ramblers have so far appeared four times at the Openair St. Gallen and in 1985 received the gold record for 25,000 records sold. In addition to their home appearances, the band has had other appearances in Germany , France , Italy , Austria , the Czech Republic and the USA .

When they were invited in 1977 by Pete Kuykendall, editor of Bluegrass Unlimited magazine , to play at a festival in Indian Springs , the band took the opportunity to make further appearances in the United States. During this tour they met Bill Monroe , who spontaneously invited them to perform at his bluegrass festival in Bean Blossom Indiana .

With their 49th anniversary in 2018, the Country Ramblers are the oldest active band in Switzerland to play bluegrass and one of the oldest bluegrass bands in Europe .
